The Burden Iron Works Museum

Location: Troy, NY
Role: Sub-contractor in Phase 1 of project.
Services provided: Reproductions, roof work, custom millwork.
The Burden Iron Works in a U.S. National Register of Historic Places property from the 1800s built in the Romanesque Revival style. The old foundry housed what was the most powerful water wheel in the world. Restored and renovated into a museum, the building required extensive duplication of architectural components, all with existing old materials that met strict historic guidelines. Working in conjunction with Titan Roofing, OSR restored the 8-sided cupola, duplicated cornices and louvers, and rebuilt the copper gutter system around the cup0la. Read More »
